People often ask us what size footings do they need to concrete the carport posts into the ground. You could use a slightly too long 4x4 to wedge up the end of the beam to relieve the pressure on the post. The simple answer is there is no standard size of footing provided to anchor a carport into the ground. A good rule of thumb is to be sure it will be as high as the tallest person or vehicle who plans to use your carport.

Attached carports can use the supporting structure as framing for one of the sides. How big the footings or foundations are depends on several factors. My question is weather or not an 8 dia. The footings will be set 2 5 below finished grade and i ll use simpson strong tie elevated post base anchors epb66 so that i can lay pavers on top of the footing with the pergola post resting on the anchor base at the finished grade of the patio.
