Veneered wood is a similar concept but instead of a plastic layer on top of plywood it has a very thin layer of actual wood called a veneer.
Can you paint over wood veneer cabinets.
Painting wood veneer is not hard.
The veneer gives the surface a better appearance and makes it look like solid wood.
Allow the first coat to dry for 1 2 hours.
Then rinse with fresh water and dry the cabinets completely.
Several thin coats provide better results than one thick coat.
Before you start painting laminate cabinets gently wipe away settled on grime and grease using trisodium phosphate.
Only paint in a well ventilated area.
This first coat will not provide full coverage but that is not a problem.
This should be done with wood filler.
Apply paint to the veneer evenly using smooth strokes and always follow the grain of the area.

If you ve chosen a dark color you may need about four coats of paint.
Apply at least two coats of your chosen paint to the veneer surface painting over the dried primer.
The first coat of paint will act as a primer coat.
The key is prepping it correctly and using the right primer.
If you re opting for a light color you ll need to apply two coats at minimum and you may need more to achieve the desired effect.
Then rinse with.
Apply a coat of oil based gloss or semi gloss paint to the veneer cabinets and detached cabinet doors using a sponge brush or a light nap roller.
Step 5 paint over the veneer.
Painting or staining wood veneer on furniture or cabinets is a great way to change the color to suit your home decor.
Unlike solid wood wood veneer is delicately thin and can be easily chipped and damaged if subject to aggressive sanding and stripping so extra care is required in refinishing a wood veneer piece.
